Mike McParland

Mike McParland brings more than 20 years professional coaching experience to the team, which is set to begin play in the Ontario University Athletics loop for the 2009-2010 season.
A graduate of Nipissing University as well as a former North Bay Trapper and a member of North Bay’s Sports Hall of Fame, McParland’s coaching credentials are impressive.
He coached Team Canada to tournament victory in the Loto Cup in 2003, and has coached and managed a number of teams in the Swiss National Hockey League Division I and II during his career.
McParland also played hockey professionally in Europe, representing Canada at the Pravda Cup in 1983.
He played Major Junior A with the Sudbury Wolves and was a standout player at the University of Guelph, twice winning the OUAA championships. He was named Guelph’s athlete of the year in 1978/79.
McParland’s professional coaching record is 385-385-80.
Mark Kosturik
Assistant Coach
Kosturik, a former North Bay Trapper, coached the local Hilltop Blades Bantam AAA team from 2005 – 2007, winning coach of the year honours in 2006/07.
He has coached minor hockey since he retired in 2002 from a 17-year career playing professional hockey in Germany. Kosturik played university hockey for Concordia University from 1982 – 1986, setting records for scoring and being named an all-star three times while leading Concordia to two National Championship tournaments.
He was named Concordia’s male athlete of the year in 1986 and was inducted into the Concordia Sports Hall of Fame in 2000.
