Lakers continue to roll

The Nipissing Lakers men’s volleyball team continued their strong season by sweeping a pair of weekend matches to improve to 16-1 on the season keeping pace with the Humber Hawks.

Saturday the Lakers overpowered the Fanshawe Falcons 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-17) however to the Falcons credit they made some spectacular defensive plays which created some entertaining rallies for the crowd on hand.

Fourth year graduating player Dave Hudson handled the setting duties and distributed the ball well to his hitter.  Andre Leblanc led the offence with 15 points while brother Adam and Scott Coulthard each added 10 points.

Sunday the Conestoga Condors put up little resistance as the Lakers easily swept their opponents 3-0.

The Lakers have one remaining game in the regular season schedule against their cross campus rivals the Canadore Panthers scheduled for Wednesday February 15 @ 8 pm at Canadore College.

The Lakers have already qualified for the provincial championships which will be held at Nipissing University February 23-25, 2012. For ticket and event information please visit nulakers.ca
