Lady Lakers humbled by Knights

WELLAND, ON – January 30, 2012 – The Nipissing Lady Lakers (10-3) dropped a 3-2 (25-21, 13-25, 25-20, 21-25, 17-15) decision to the Niagara Knights (7-6) Saturday before rebounding with a 3-0 sweep of the Sheridan Bruins (7-7) to end a disappointing road trip.

“You have to give credit to Niagara for the effort they put forth,” said head coach Marc LaRochelle. “They played with a lot of heart.”

The Lady Lakers now have to go perfect the rest of the way if they hope to capture second place in the West Division and the automatic berth to the OCAA championship in Barrie. There is no room for error as the Fanshawe Falcons have only 3 losses and the head to head match-up will be an important one given no other loss occurs.

The Lady Lakers will play their final home games this weekend as they face the Mohawk Mountaineers and Saint Clair Saints. Games are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday beginning at 12 pm.
