The Nipissing Lady Lakers took a step backwards in their hopes of making the OCAA provincial championship by dropping a crucial 3-1 decision to the Fanshawe Falcons which had significant playoff implications.
The loss drops the Lady Lakers record to 12-4 on the season and third place in the West division standings while forcing a sudden death cross-over match to be held Sunday at 12 at the Surtees Gym. The winner of Sunday’s contest will advance to the OCAA championship hosted by Georgian College.
“Right now our biggest problem is that we are individuals playing a team game.” Said head coach Marc LaRochelle.
“I do however give Fanshawe a lot of credit….they wanted that game. They displayed a lot of passion and won the one on one battles for most of the match.”
Sunday in a game that had little impact on the standings the Lady Lakers defeated the Conestoga Condors 3-0.
The Lady Lakers will play their final game of the regular season when they take on their cross campus rivals the Canadore Panthers Wednesday February 15 @ 6 pm in the Education Centre Gym.
